Ever the bag ho, I recently bought a new purse, the lovely Namaste Zuma. I fell in love with this purse when I first saw it listed over at Elann. I contemplated asking for one for Christmas, but couldn't decide on a colour. I was leaning towards the Hollywood Pink, a bright fuchsia colour, but it seemed too similar to what I always get, and after all, I already have another Namaste purse in pink, albeit well worn with the lining now hand stitched together. Meghan from the Stitch It podcast talked about the Zuma, and on the Ravelry forum I believe both her and another listener mentioned the Peacock colour. I was glad for my indecision, because right away I decided this was the colour for me. I received some money for Christmas so ordered the purse on Boxing Day, and it arrived before New Years. I am pretty pathetic though, I kept looking at pictures of the purse and excitedly anticipating it's arrival. I don't know that I have ever been more excited for a mail order purchase to arrive! The day that I thought it just MIGHT be here, I went to the mailbox at lunchtime to check, and excitedly pulled it out of the box. I transferred all my items into the purse before I even returned to work that day! Since receiving the purse, I've received tons of complements on it, and it was a definite hit at knitting group the other night, in fact I had to pass it around so everyone could take a closer look.
Note that the colour is not nearly as vibrant in this picture as it is in real life. You can see better pictures as well as the other colours over at the Namaste website here.
I thought I'd write a bit of a review of the purse.
What I like about this purse is its colour and its style. I think this is a very attractive and chic purse and I honestly think that this has a lot to do with this particular colour. It's a bit of a different colour for me, and I think that's why I like it so much. I love how easy it is to open up, that it will stay open when you want it to and closed when you want it too. I have a tendency to throw my purse into the passenger seat when I get into my car, and often stuff falls out of my purse when I do that. Not with this purse. The main section holds tons. Today I had a work meeting away from the office and it easily held my notebook and daytimer, as well as the letter size handouts and calendar that I came away from the meeting with. And of course my current sock WIP is always in there as well, even though it is unfortunately rarely/never appropriate for me to knit in a meeting any more.
There is little that I don't like about this purse. I was hoping that the front section would hold my wallet, but it is not nearly big enough. I do like the little dividers though, and there is ample room for both my Blackberry and my work cell, plus more if I wished. I also find that it doesn't stay on my shoulders as easily as I had hoped, the Jetsetter was actually better for that, although overall I prefer the Zuma to the Jetsetter.
Rating from this bag ho? I would give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5. I love my new bag! So there you have it, my current Favourite Thing.
