I must admit to being completely stoked when I finished plying my latest handspun this past weekend. I often feel completely inadequate when I see the gorgeous handspun created by others. In my insecure mind, mine pales in comparison. I still have some thick bits, particularly at the joins, but slow and steady I'm improving. What made me happy this weekend is creating what I see as my best handspun to date. Yes, there are still thick bits, but not as many and not as thick. And it is by far the thinnest yet too. As a point of comparison, when I first started spinning on my Louet, a typical four ounce braid would yield about 90 yards. I've had much more success on my Lendrum. This last skein measured in at 396 yards! At about 20 WPI, according to my little gauge this is fingering weight yarn.
Here's the pics. I started with this lovely roving from Etsy seller Chimera:
I highly recommend this seller, by the way. I have one more braid from her and will definitely be purchasing more.
Here's what I ended up with:
And a close-up:

Suggestions as to what to knit with this greatfully appreciated. I was kind of thinking of a small shawl, although the colour is very similar to my Forest Canopy, so I'm not so sure about that. I would consider almost any other ideas except for hats, which I don't wear.
Nice, nice, nice.

No wonder you were stoked! That yarn is lovely! I suggest a pair of socks -- you have enough yardage.
I just noticed that you're on Vancouver Island. I bet it's beautiful up there. I visited a long time ago.
You're close enough that you could visit the sisters on Wolf Island at Our Lady of the Rock. They raise Cotswolds and Llamas -- I've got some of their beautiful roving. They were featured in "Wild Fibres" last month. I love to go there someday on a wool retreat!http://www.rockisland.com/~mhildegard/cotswold.html
Plurk ya later,

Lovely :)
It's funny how we are about our handspun eh? I'm even kind of worried about spinning in front of other people in case i'm doing it wrong lol

Brenda, that yarn is gorgeous. I love all your handspun and I think you should be proud of it! One of these days I'm coming over to see your Lendrum.

I was kinda surprised by the amount of brown in the final skeins of yarn. Should I have been? Probably not.
