Something that makes me very happy is that I can see progress in my spinning. I am quite pleased with how this watermelon roving spun up, of course when it comes looking like this it makes the job of the spinner much easier:
It was purchased from Etsy seller Three by Hand. Lisa has a wonderful eye for colour, and I will definitely be buying from this Canadian fiber artist again, probably very soon!
This fiber is BFL, which is always so lovely to spin. Now that I am spinning much thinner (I'm getting approximately triple the yardage from when I first started spinning on my Louet), it takes me a lot longer to spin up a typical four ounce braid. Eventually, I ended up with this lovely skein:
Its about 17 WPI, making it sport weight.
As soon as this yarn had dryed from its bath, I couldn't wait to get knitting it, and I knew exactly what pattern I wanted to make, it's the Morning Surf Scarf, which I first saw on the cover of the Summer 2008 Spin Off, however it is also available free online courtesy the designer's website. It's a lovely pattern that I think really shows off handspun well. Here's the start of mine:
Well my knitting is calling me so off I go. Hope your week is off to a good start!
That pattern shows off your spinning beautifully! :) I can spin pretty thin on the drop spindle, still not trying the wheel yet.
