Yet another spinning post from this obsessed spinner, but hey, at least I'm posting more consistently these days! Warning, this is a picture intensive post.
Today, I am showing you the journey from fiber to handspun yarn. First, here is this beautiful fiber from Yummy Yarns, purchased last summer at Three Bags Full while on vacation in Vancouver. Isn't it beautiful?
This fiber stayed in my stash for some time, partly because she was too pretty to spin, and partly because I kind of got away from spinning while papercrafting took over. Last weekend, feeling a little more confident with my spinning progress, I decided her time had come. Here is the single on the bobbin:
After spinning the second half of the fiber, it was ready to ply and then wind onto the niddy noddy:
And after her bath, she was hung outside to dry:
All skeined up:
It's a little over plied this time (I had felt that my previous yarns were a little underplied so overcompensated this time) but I love the colours of this yarn, it is my favourite of my own handspun yet.
Now the big question, what should I make from it? I estimate this to be between 80 to 90 yards of yarn, and it is heavy worsted weight. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Oh my goodness, this yarn is so FUN! Very cheerful, I love it. :) As for patterns, have you tried the Ravelry experimental search feature? I really like that you can enter yardage and it'll suggest patterns. :)

while avoiding carpal tunnel syndrome ;)

That is beautiful yarn you made. Beautiful colour. It seems to be about the size of a skein of handspun sweatermaker, so you could probably get a nice drop stitch scarf or a hat out of it. The hat you use 6mm and cast on 60 st. If you want the scarf pattern email me.

I have often drooled over the Yummy roving at TBF. Alas I am not a spinner, so I get to just admire and dream...

So pretty! Love the photos of your spinning process for this yarn.
First thought is a neck warmer although you may not have as much use for one in your milder weather.

I love the look of a multi coloured yarn in the feather and fan pattern.
This pattern is lovely however you will need more yarn. Maybe paired with a plain coloured co-ordinating yarn?
Use the plain yarn for the side pattern stitches and your multi-coloured yarn for the centre stitches.

I knit this feather and fan narrow scarf from one skein of Malabrigo. the pattern link does not seem to be valid any more however I have it saved as a Word doc; I can email it to you...
