Other years I've done "year in review" type posts, like so many others, at the end of a year. This year, I've not been motivated to do so, I'd much rather be relaxing with my knitting. I still may do it late, we'll see. And what have I been knitting the last few days, you may ask? I'm probably about the last knit blogger to jump on this bandwagon, but I've been knitting a Pomatomus sock. You can click to see a bigger picture if you're interested. I'm using Lorna's Laces in the Uptown Colourway. This is the third pattern I've tried with this yarn. It's rather funky with all that pooling, and I almost frogged it. Joe said he thought it was kind of neat, and it has grown on me, so I continued knitting. I hope to finish the first sock tonight. Normally, I would have started the second sock when I got to the heel of the first, but I just HAD to keep going to see how the pattern developed on the foot. This is a very fun pattern to knit, and with the exception of some frustration where I screwed up the pattern on the foot, this has been so enjoyable to knit, and I just don't want to put it down.
I've received one e-mail about my blog looking funny, that the middle column is very tiny and the sidebars are huge. After Christmas, we purchased a nineteen inch flat screen monitor. We're really enjoying it, the resolution is so much better than our old bulky one, plus it takes up so much less room on the computer desk. I changed the blog settings to appear better on my monitor, but although it is my blog, it is not all about me. Readers, can you please let me know how it is for you? I would have thought that if anything, the middle screen would be much larger and scrolling would be required to view the sidebars, but perhaps this isn't the case.
Also along the technical vein, Joe decided to purchase himself a new camera at a Boxing Day Sale. He wanted a small camera that he could keep with him on the work site. He works in the bush and comes across some beautiful views. He then decided that it was silly for him to take a new camera on heavy equipment with him, so he gave me his new camera and claimed my old Coolpix for himself. What a guy eh? The Coolpix was only 4.0 pixels, the new one is an Olympus Stylus 730, and I believe is 7.1 Pixels. I'm enjoying getting used to this new camera, which is much thinner, lighter, and quicker than the Coolpix. The combination of the new camera and the new monitor have meant that I'm not having to edit my pictures as much. I previously had to lighten them considerably. So please let me know how the pictures appear for you. I started using the new camera on my last post.
Time for lunch, out to do a few errands, and then back to sock knitting.
ETA: Thanks for all the feedback. I've changed the blog settings so that the center section, where the posts are, shouldn't be small for anyone. Those of you with smaller screens will probably have to scroll over to see the sidebar, but I don't think people regularly read there anyway.
Finished one Pomatomus sock last night and cast on for number 2, which I'm off to work on now. Back to work on Monday, so I'm enjoying the knitting time I can have now.
Happy New Year. I don't know that I will be doing a New/Old Year round up either. When I look at your blog, the side bars are fixed width and the center is not, so if you have a small screen the center will look really small.

Usually I read on bloglines so I didn't notice the format change. When I click through now it looks fine to me. The photos off the new camera are very nice indeed!

On my screen the sidebars are about the same width as the center, so it is a little hard to read.
The pictures look great!

On my screen I scroll back & forth (I don't keep the window open all the way), but the center panel is just fine when I scroll so it shows. I love the new banner, and the photos look great. :)

hi! i'm having the issue someone emailed about - the center panel is very narrow & the sides are extremely wide & the photos posted are blocked by the sidebars - however :) this might be MY format issue - not yours!

I see the centre as very narrow, too.
I like how the sock is looking, the colourway is great! :0)

The center is actually quite narrow compared to the side bars. They do seem wide. It doesn't bother me at all but since you asked....
Love the sock. So cool!!!!

Hi Brenda. The photos look fine. The screen does require scrolling to see the whole third column;otherwise normal. The sock is totally cool.

The center was narrow and sidebars had widened as mentioned. Now the center looks normal, the sides are still wider, and I have to scroll across to read the sidebars on my smaller monitor.
Great looking sock!

On mine the right side bar is cut off. The middle is a little wider than either side - but this should be easy to tweak in Typepad. The new sock is definitely unique! Reminds me of the socks over at Mommio Knits that she was just working on - the pooling makes each sock very different.

On my monitor, which I think is 17", the center takes up about 40 to 45% of the screen and I have to scroll sideways to see the full width of the sidebars. I have the window at full width.

On my home computer--which is old--the middle column is samll, but here at work, it looks fine.
I like your P-sock. It looks pretty cool!

The blog looks fine on my screen. I have a 17" flat screen monitor. The P-sock is pretty, I remember knitting mine.

You were not the last knitblogger to knit a P-sock. Lynette might be knitting a pair soon.

Wanted to let you know, everything looks great since the tweaking.

I am late getting in here, but Happy New Year. I haven't done a summary or an goal thing yet, either. (Just my saga for now) Right now (Jan3rd) it all looks perfect to me. I love the font and the nice Jan. colors..the sidebars seem very clean cut and nicely oriented with the info on them. So, all is perfect for me :)

I am late to the party as usual; however, I will add my 2¢. Your Blog looks ok to me, though I have a 19"LCD monitor. I am surprised anyone noticed the changes you made, as so many still seem to use Bloglines. I hate Bloglines and stop using it over a year ago; as I prefer to see a Blog as it was designed by the Blogger and not all squished and cutup by Bloglines.
Great looking new camera. I have an Olympus 740 Ultra Zoom (which appear to be replaced by the SP-510 UZ).
I think my next step for a camera will be a digital SLR maybe the EVOLT E-500 http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1192
I think your new photos are great very clear, rich colour. I rarely edit my pictures before posting them to the blog. I just up-load the full file and let Typepad compress it to fit my blog set-up.
