I did pick up the lacy cardi sleeve and work on it a bit last night, however not until finishing the Regia Bamboo socks. There's something about the magic of a turned heel that just makes me want to plug along and finish the socks:
Yarn is Regia Bamboo 1062. I used the Garter Rib stitch form Sensational Knitted Socks, knit on 56 stitches. I usually knit my socks on 64 stitches, but this yarn behaved a bit like cotton yarn does, and I always find my cotton socks better on less stitches. I also used the garter stitch border for the heel flap, as described in this book. The jury is still out on what I think of this heel, it does seem to go well with this particular stitch though. I really love the Garter Rib though, and will definitely use it again.
Since I'm not showered and dressed yet (and quite honestly too lazy to venture outside quite yet, there's due on the grass anyway) here's a "sock held out the door" shot which shows the stitch and yarn colour a bit better:
Well, I better get ready and hit the road. It's a day off today, but since I have to be in Victoria fairly early tomorrow, I'm headed to spend the night at my parents in Nanaimo where shopping will happen. I plan to hit the LYS, and also to search for a pair of shoes to wear with my handknit socks, among other things. Austermann step yarn is coming with me so that I can cast on another pair of socks, as well as the Lacy Cardi Sleeve.
Edited to add: I'm succumbing to the spinning bug and am in the market for an inexpensive beginner spindle. Any recommendations?
Have a great week!
Love the colour of your socks. I am slowly plugging away on the lacy cardi, too! Have a great time in Victoria and Nanaimo.

Cute socks! I bet they were quick to knit since you only had 56 stitches.

What a coincidence... I fell in love with and bought a new spindle this weekend at Rhinebeck, and thus have two. Given that my first spindle was given to me as a learn-to-spin gift, I feel that I should pass it on in the same way. Assuming I don't discover something is seriously wrong with my new spindle when I attempt to use it, are you interested in my first one?

Love your socks! What beautiful colors! Enjoy spinning (once you get your wheel). That's one thing I haven't done -- yet!
