Time to do some catch-up here on the ol' blog. First off, we've had a really odd winter here on Vancouver Island. We don't normally get a lot of snow, but normally more than we've had this year. Here's the pretty winter scene we woke up to this morning, this is the view from my living room window:
I kind of like how our snow-covered bird feeder appears in the foreground. This is the biggest snowfall we've had this winter, I'd guess about four inches.
I finished the lime mohair scarf I was knitting earlier this week:
I discovered close to the end of this scarf that I can't even read a simple pattern properly. The pattern has a four row repeat, however I somehow managed to skip the third and fourth row. I think it looks okay though, and as this is mohair, there was no way I could rip it back. Now I'll have to try this pattern again and knit it properly.
In other news, my community had it's very first Sewing and Needle Arts Show yesterday, and Shelley was one of the vendors. Of course I had to go down and visit. I thought I showed great restraint, but I didn't come away empty handed.
My favourite purchase is a new Fun Knits exclusive:
It's hand dyed fingering weight (It's also available in lace weight, but I liked the colour the best in this hank) 100% Merino by Judy Maclean, aka Sweatermaker, a local spinner/dyer. This is the same artisan from whom I purchased the yarn I used for my Feather and Fan Shawl as well as the lime mohair scarf I just showed you. This Seasons line is exclusive to Fun Knits, mine is the Summer colourway. There is already a Spring colourway, and will eventually be a Fall and Winter as well. Not sure what I'll make with this yet, but it had to come home with me.
I also purchased another Fun Knits exclusive, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in the Quadra colourway. My picture does not do this yarn justice. I'll be using this to knit my Sockapaloooza socks with.
And finally, a ball of Opal Acalpulco sock yarn.
I had to laugh, when Shelley saw this yarn, she knew it would come home with me!
That's about it for now. I'm looking forward to a fairly relaxing Sunday here. Eris is now completely finished, I sewed the zipper in yesterday. I'll get some final pictures of it taken soon. And a final note, I still haven't made the decision on what to knit with the Berocco cotton twist, so if you haven't already done so, please help me decide by voting in my poll (see last post).

Some really nice things came home with you!!!

What a haul! You came home with some nice yarn. I love the scarf - I think you've created a new pattern. I didn't realize you guys got snow! Usually your weather is the same as ours - just rain here!

Wow, Brenda, you certainly got some beauties. I must get a few things off the needles before I head up to see Shelley! The snow was pretty yesterday morning, but now I want it gone, gone!!

Oooooh - I like the scarf.
Thanks for the link to the Lorna's Laces. I went and bought one of both the colours available. I have never knit with Lorna's before. And I like supporting fellow islanders like us!
Have a great week!
