The only knitting I've done this week is on several different socks. I finished my Sockapal2za socks a few days ago, and finally got around to taking a picture today:
(This was as good a picture as I could get, I wish it showed the pattern a little better. If you click on the picture, the bigger image shows it a little better)
I'm fairly pleased with how they turned out, and hope my sock pal will like them. As so many other bloggers have said, it's a lot different knitting for a fellow sock knitter as I kept doubting myself and came close to frogging on more than one occasion. Yarn and pattern details are in the Gallery.
In honour of finishing these socks, I started another pair for myself. I loved these Petticoat socks that I just had to give the pattern a try. Here's my version:
I had looked at the pattern several times, but kept getting scared away by the Picot Cast On. In the end, it was a little fussy to do, but not to the point that it was overly frustrating. And I really like the look of it. It always feels good to try something new. I'm now trying to decide whether or not to continue the patterning into the foot. I'm thinking I won't, as although it would look lovely, I'm not sure that it would actually fit well in my shoes, and I figure that socks should be somewhat practical.
And finally,

Those are lovely. I really like the petticoat sock. I'll have to scour the LYSs again and search for that yarn. I've yet to find a LYS that carries Opal.

The Sockapal2za socks are so pretty. I never made socks for someone else, but I can imagine that it would be a bit different.
Also, the Petticoat socks are looking gorgeous!

Love your sock pal's socks, and she will too. Isn't the Petticoat fun to knit with? For some reason the colors in this are keeping my attention. Your pattern shows off the yarn wonderfully.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or are you blocking those socks on metal hangers? That is so cool! And . . . happy birthday!

Both pairs of socks are beautiful. Great pattern on the first pair, and fantastic yarn on the second. Beautiful.
