100 Things About Me

 

  1. I was born July 31, 1962.
  2. I married Joe on May 14, 1994.
  3. I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1984 with a Bachelor’s of Social Work.
  4. My current job is as an adoption social worker.
  5. I work full time.
  6. I like my job overall, but it does get in the way of my hobbies!
  7. I was born in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
  8. I have always lived in this beautiful province, but have lived in several different places.
  9. I am proud to be Canadian!
  10. Crafting is my therapy, it keeps me sane!
  11. I have way too many hobbies.
  12. I don’t have enough room in this house for my hobby and craft supplies.
  13. I don’t have enough time for all of my hobbies and crafts.
  14. I knit.
  15. A university room mate taught me how to knit continental style
  16.  I have never knit the “other way” (whatever it is called) since.
  17.  I crochet.
  18.  I make soap.
  19.  I make candles.
  20.   Okay, I haven’t really made soap or candles for a long time.
  21.  I am just getting into scrap booking.
  22.  Barbies were my favourite toy when I was a kid.
  23.  I love to give Barbie dolls as gifts to my nieces.
  24.  I have collected some Barbies myself as an adult, but don’t have the space to properly display them.
  25.  I love sushi.
  26.  I am a reformed cat hater.
  27.  Hubby and I are “parents” to two spoiled tabby cats, Buttons and Bambi.
  28.  I love chocolate!
  29.  I hate mornings!
  30.  I have a thing for purses.   I have TONS of them and keep buying more (I use most of them too!).
  31.  One of my favourite all-time entertainers is Elton John.  I saw him in concert in August 2002, and still can’t believe it!
  32.  I have a ten CD changer in my car, and currently all that is in it is Elton John!
  33.  I love music.
  34.  My musical tastes are quite diverse. 
  35.  I like almost anything except for rap or twangy country.
  36.  I used to play the piano, clarinet, and saxophone.
  37.  I haven’t touched any of these instruments for several years.
  38.  I need to get back into music.
  39.  Something I want to learn when I retire is to play the cello.
  40.  I recently figured out that I should be able to retire at 55.
  41.  My favourite colour is purple.
  42.  I HATE orange!
  43.  I’m a couch potato by nature.
  44.  I enjoy going for long walks if I can get myself up off the couch.
  45.  When hubby and I have a day off together (which doesn’t happen very often) we love to go out for breakfast.
  46.  I become somewhat obsessed with whatever craft project I happen to be working on.
  47.  I hate winter.
  48.  I have way more energy on a nice sunny day.
  49.  I love to watch figure skating.
  50.  My favourite figure skater is Kurt Browning.
  51.  I have a rather different ethnic background.
  52.  My Mom is three-quarters Chinese.
  53.  My Dad is full-blooded Ukrainian.
  54.  A friend of mine decided that my official ethnic dish is stir-fried perogies!
  55.  The only language that I speak is English.  I sure wish I could speak Chinese and Ukrainian.
  56.  My parents have been married for 46 years.
  57.  My in-laws have been married for 45 years.
  58.  I’m proud of the above two facts given the divorce rate.
  59.  I have one sister, two years younger than me.
  60.  She is a Provincial Court Judge.
  61.  I think she is a lot different than me.
  62.  She is athletic and not crafty.
  63.  I am NOT athletic and AM crafty!
  64.  She couldn’t knit or purl if her life depended on it.
  65.  But then I could never enter and complete a triathlon, and she has.
  66.  Of all my family members, the one I was probably most alike was my Granny.
  67.  She passed away in 1984 at the age of 71.
  68.  I miss her to this day.
  69.  I drive a 1993 Toyota Corolla.
  70.  The only other car I have owned was a 1985 Honda Civic.
  71.  I love Japanese cars and would never own a North American one.
  72.  In 2001, I reached my goal at Weight Watchers, losing 50 pounds!
  73.  Unfortunately, I gained some of it back, but am now working on loosing it again.  I’m happy that I feel like   I am FINALLY in control again.
  74.  I recently started going to Curves for Women and LOVE it. 
  75.  I think I probably have SADS (Seasonal Affective Disorder).  I love summer, and have so much more energy on a nice day.
  76.  I consider myself to be a fairly emotional person.
  77.  I love the water and would hate to live away from the ocean or a large lake.
  78.  Water is very calming.
  79.  I love the mountains too.
  80.  I don’t mind flying, but am scared of heights!
  81.  My husband thinks I have far too many clothes.
  82.  He is probably right, but I keep buying more.
  83.  I really like jewellery too.
  84.  I used to enjoy cooking and baking, but now just find it to be a chore that keeps me away from crafts and the computer.
  85.  I hate it when people drive down the street with their stereo blaring.
  86.  I think that is downright inconsiderate!
  87.  The older I get, the more I enjoy quiet and solitude.
  88.  Nothing angers me more than prejudice.
  89.  I consider myself to be a pacifist.
  90.  I enjoy traveling, but hubby does not.
  91.  I’m trying to talk him into a tropical vacation.
  92.  I value friendships.
  93.  I have two very long-term friends that I still maintain contact with.
  94.  I’ve known Betty since kindergarten.
  95.  Louise I’ve known since grade 8.
  96.  In 2002, Louise and I commemorated our 40th birthdays by going in the Vancouver Sun Run.
  97.  We walked, not ran (heaven forbid)!
  98.  We had so much fun that we have made it an annual event.
  99.  I enjoy reading but need to get away from the television and knitting and pick up a book more than I do.
  100.  I've finally completed my first "100 things about me" list.  Would you believe it took me several months?
